JUVENILE MATCH REPORTS - Season '09 / '10

u19 F Bandon v Cobh Pirates
Cobh Pirates U 19's travelled in large numbers last Saturday to play Bandon RFC in a friendly fixture. The game was used as a training opportunity to build on the current training efforts both within the club and during last week's team building exercise. All 26 players took part for periods of at least 30 minutes each. Despite the multiple substitutions the Pirates' team(s) played well and dominated throughout scoring 3 tries without reply. The U19 coaching staff are very happy with the effort and application of the players and are looking forward to working with this promising squad during the upcoming league campaign. The standard of players that have come through from last years U16's is a credit to all involved and it is also gratifying to see 'new' players coming into the club. (Congratulations to Dave McCarthy on a scoring start to his Pirates' Career). It is clear already that the younger players are working very well with the 'older heads' from last years U 18 team and it is important that the current efforts are converted into results on the pitch.

As always, new players (or those that have been out of the game for a while) are very welcome in Cobh Pirates, irrespective of experience.
For U 19 Rugby Call Eoin Chandler (086 884 1364) or Ian Dunne (086 7800 192) forwards coach along with Brendan Ronan, backs coach, and Mick Keating, strength and condition coach.

2010 Munster Cadets
Congratulations to Jason Butler and Kevin Quinlan who have been selected for the next phase of the Munster Cadets Development Squad. This is a programme run by the Munster Branch to develop club juvenile players from the age of 14 to 16. Successful candidates at the end of the Cadets programme will advance to the Munster Youths u17 Development squad, where at the moment, Jason's first cousin, Eoin McSweeney, is currently going thru' his paces. Hard luck to the Cillian Farrell, Glen McKeown, Jack Cahill and Pete Chandler who missed out this time round.
